A growing organization is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to support billing operations for Oregon healthcare practices.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both day-to-day billing execution and the opportunity to help improve workflows, support clinic onboarding, and strengthen billing processes.
What You’ll Do
- Manage billing activities based on clinic-specific workflows and requirements
- Review, compile, abstract, and code patient and claim information using billing software and standard classification systems
- Submit claims through EDI and process paper claims when needed
- Post payments, reconcile charges, payments, adjustments, and write-offs
- Investigate and resolve denied claims; document root causes and corrective actions
- Support insurance verification and pre-authorization processes
- Communicate with payers regarding billing discrepancies, coding issues, and claim status
- Conduct coding reviews and audits to support accurate documentation and compliant billing practices
- Help develop billing workflows, policies, and procedures
- Support clinic onboarding, account management, and training for clinic personnel
- Serve as a billing resource for clinics and internal team members
- Educate providers and support staff on billing-related processes, including co-pays, deductibles, and non-covered services
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience
- Experience with medical billing software required
- Coding knowledge and experience working with billing documentation and claim accuracy
- Associate degree and CPC certification preferred/desired based on experience alignment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clinic staff, payers, and internal teams
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Experience with Epic EMR required (or ability to complete Epic training upon hire)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet-based systems
