Job Summary
High Country Customs is seeking an experienced Fabricator Foreman to join our team and contribute to the success of our high-end custom fabrication projects and overall company growth. This is a hands-on leadership role for a skilled professional who takes pride in exceptional craftsmanship, sets the standard for quality, and can effectively manage a crew in a detail-driven environment.
- Fabricator Foreman oversees daily fabrication shop operations, ensuring high-quality production of metal components, assemblies, and custom builds. This role provides hands-on leadership, assigns work, ensures safety compliance, maintains production schedules, and trains fabrication staff. The Fabricator Foreman serves as the primary link between management and the fabrication team.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, mentor, and supervise fabricators.
- Assign daily tasks and allocate labor based on project requirements and skill levels.
- Conduct job briefings, toolbox talks, and team huddles.
- Train new employees on fabrication standards, equipment use, and safety procedures.
Fabrication & Production
- Oversee fabrication of metal components, assemblies, frames, and structures to specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and 3D models accurately.
- Verify material requirements and ensure proper fitment and assembly.
- Conduct quality inspections to meet company and customer specifications.
- Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and provide solutions.
Project Coordination
- Maintain production schedule and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Coordinate closely with project manager.
- Track progress and report delays, material shortages, or technical issues.
- Assist with estimating labor hours and planning upcoming projects.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Perform regular safety inspections of equipment and work areas.
- Report and document incidents, near-misses, and hazards.
Quality Control & Documentation
- Ensure all fabricated products meet dimensional, weld, and structural requirements.
- Review project documentation and maintain accurate records.
- Approve completed work and verify readiness for delivery or installation.
Equipment & Shop Management
- Oversee maintenance of fabrication tools, machines, and welding equipment.
- Monitor inventory of materials, hardware, and supplies.
- Recommend equipment repairs or replacements.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and efficiency of the shop.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5 years of fabrication or welding experience for high end custom homes(structural, custom architectural metalwork, or similar).
- 1–3 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, stick welding, cutting, grinding, and metal assembly.
- Strong understanding of fabrication tolerances and shop math.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs regularly.
- Standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in a shop environment.
- Work around noise, heat, sparks, and heavy machinery (with PPE).
Work Environment
- Fabrication shop setting with welding, cutting, grinding, and heavy equipment.
- Field or job-site work
- Office environment for electronic job document reviews.
This position requires appropriate use of technology and a willingness to learn and adopt new tools, systems, and equipment.
