Duties
- Operate directional drilling equipment with precision, ensuring accurate alignment and depth control for underground installations
- Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and technical drawings to execute drilling tasks effectively
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, tankers, and paving machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Coordinate with project managers and crew members to plan daily drilling activities and adapt to site conditions
- Assist in setting up construction sites by operating heavy machinery like Caterpillar equipment, excavators, loaders, and dozers as needed
- Follow safety protocols rigorously during all operations to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with industry standards
- Maintain detailed records of drilling progress, equipment usage, and safety inspections for project documentation
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy construction equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, tankers, and paving machinery
- Proven experience operating horizontal drilling rigs or similar directional drilling equipment
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret project specifications accurately
- Skilled in the operation of various construction machinery such as Caterpillar equipment and other heavy-duty vehicles
- Knowledge of construction site safety procedures and OSHA regulations
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in operating excavators, water trucks, or other heavy machinery on job sites
- Familiarity with construction materials and processes related to underground utility installation
