KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment.
- Test spray equipment prior to filling with all chemicals or pesticides.
- Maintain a clean and organized pesticide storage room per both County and State requirements.
- Properly track various pesticides used daily and report total usage to Superintendent.
- Mowing of tees, greens, fairways, and rough.
- Raking of bunkers and general bunker maintenance and upkeep.
- General landscaping tasks such as mulch work and planting.
- Hose watering of turf and other areas.
- Assist with irrigation repair and drainage installation.
- Assist with small scale golf course construction projects.
- Participate in daily golf course set up activities such as changing of hole locations and tee markers.
- Ensure end of day tasks/closing procedures are completed and comply with the department’s SOP.
- Report any safety or maintenance issues immediately to the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
REQUIREMENTS
- A Spray Technician will have the same job requirements that a Greenskeeper 2 performs.
- The Spray Technician will be required to perform Greenskeeper 2 requirements when they are not spraying chemicals or fertilizers.
- Strong working knowledge of all chemical application equipment including sprayers and spreaders.
- The ability to follow oral and written directions including wearing the appropriate safety equipment when handling, mixing, and spraying all chemicals.
- Ability to read and understand pesticide labels.
- Ability to properly follow specific mixing instructions per the pesticide label.
- Ability to properly operate various types of spray equipment and spreaders.
- Yearly training requirements as demanded by the county, state and federal regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to properly operate various types of spray equipment and spreaders.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for periods of up to 8 hours.
- Must be able to operate golf course equipment, including a mower, blower, golf cart, weed eater, chain saw, edger, trimmer, shovel, rake, water hose, hand tools and other equipment.
- Constantly kneel, stand, walk, climb, bend, clean, run, sort, crawl, twist body, carry, drag, and lift objects weighing up to 60 pounds; hold, pull and push objects weighing up to 60 lbs.; climb, squat, stoop, and crawl.
