JOB SUMMARY:
Washes and cleans tableware, pots, pans and cooking equipment. Cleans and clears workstations and overall kitchen areas by maintaining a high standard or sanitation and cleanliness.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots or pans using a dishwasher or by hand.
- Keep dishwasher clean, changing water after heavy usage, deliming weekly, and wiping down curtains and outside surfaces.
- Monitor dishwasher water temperature to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
- Report dishwasher mechanical issues or temperature variations to the executive chef immediately.
- Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition.
- Place clean dishes, utensil and cooking equipment in storage areas once air dried.
- Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for the restaurant and kitchen
- Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas.
- Sweep, mop and scrub floors
- Stock supplies, such as food or utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerator or other storage areas
- Clean food preparation and production areas as required
- Assist in receiving and storing supplies
- Collects trash cans from kitchen work areas at the end of each shift and empties into the outside dumpster or compactor.
- Clean garbage cans with water
- Sweep loading dock and kitchen entrance areas, cleaning litter and debris to trash cans for the safety of team members.
- Transfer supplies or equipment between storage and work areas by hand or using hand trucks
- Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
- Attend all scheduled team member meetings and offers suggestions for improvement
- Coordinate with and assist fellow team members to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant
- Fill-in for fellow team members where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Some high school education or equivalent experience.
Experience: Previous experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Must have vision ability to see minute objects at arm’s length, to read meters and controls. Must have finger, hand and upper body dexterity to grasp dishes, push, pull, carry and lift racks, carts and large trash bins. Must be able to understand and follow written or verbal instructions or instructions by example. Have the ability to keep breakage to a minimum by handling china, glassware and fragile equipment with care.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: (essential functions only) Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying:
Lift 30 - 50 lbs (Trays, Dish Racks, Glass Racks, etc.)
Pushing /Pulling 50 - 100 lbs (Carts, Waste Cans, Dish Dollies)
Carry 20 - 40 lbs. (Trays, Dish Racks, Glass Racks, etc.)
Bending/Kneeling:
Bend is necessary, dish rack stacking, storing of equipment/dishware, unloading carts, moping/sweeping floors, cleaning ovens.
Mobility:
Maneuver and travel 30-50 ft. throughout the day 100% of the time. Full range or mobility required.
Continuous Standing:
Standing required to service guest(s) / function(s); 100% of time scheduled.
Climbing Stairs:
Up to approximately 0 steps % of 8 (time period).
Ladders:
Up to approximately 2 feet % of 8 _ (time period).
