We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead our mechanic team and oversee the management of our fleet and equipment. Our operation includes approximately $7-8 million worth of assets, consisting of 70 vehicles, 30 heavy equipment pieces, and 45 trailers, along with various tools. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is not afraid to get their hands dirty, thrives in a dynamic environment, and values organization and efficiency. This role will also take full ownership of our fleet management system, Fleetio, to ensure seamless tracking of maintenance, repairs, and inventory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the mechanic team to ensure efficient maintenance and repairs of all company assets.
Oversee and perform routine maintenance and housekeeping tasks in and around the shop.
Develop and manage a comprehensive repair and service schedule, coordinating priorities with Operations Managers.
Take ownership of Fleetio, ensuring accurate documentation of repairs, inventory, and fleet tracking.
Coordinate with external repair shops and vendors for issues beyond in-house capabilities.
Oversee the inventory management of parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring proper organization.
Perform maintenance and repair on small engine equipment (e.g., string trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers).
Conduct repairs and maintenance on fleet vehicles, including diesel and gasoline-powered trucks (1500-5500 series, non-CDL).
Maintain and repair heavy equipment such as skid steers, pay loaders, mini-excavators, track machines, trenchers, and mulch mates.
Utilize technology and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and address mechanical issues efficiently.
Perform administrative duties, including cycle counts, parts requisitions, warranties, and reviewing schematics and equipment manuals.
Ensure all records (time, repair orders, parts usage, preventative maintenance) are properly documented in Fleetio.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
5 years of experience in fleet/equipment maintenance, with expertise in engines, brake systems, transmission, heating and cooling systems, suspension, and tire replacement and alignment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team and maintain an organized shop environment.
Experience with Fleetio or similar fleet management software (training available if needed).
Technology-driven mindset with proficiency in using computer systems for tracking repairs and parts sourcing.
Small-engine repair experience (leaf blowers, line trimmers, hedge shears, etc.).
Welding and fabrication knowledge is a plus.
Must have a valid drivers license and be able to drive under company insurance.
Degree or certifications in automotive repair/technology preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes physically demanding environment.

Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 lbs. frequently and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
Work environment includes moderate noise levels and occasional high-noise conditions.
