Hicks Lightning Protection is a leading provider of turnkey lightning protection and grounding systems for commercial and industrial projects across the United States and internationally. With offices and employees in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Virginia, and Nebraska, we're continuing to grow and looking for talented individuals to grow with us.

We are seeking a CAD Designer to join our team at our Phoenix, Arizona, location. This position will begin with a 4 to 6 week training period at our headquarters office in Ponder, TX, located just outside Denton, TX.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the review of construction drawings and specifications and perform preliminary design reviews.
• Participate with the team to design and develop shop drawings for lightning protection and grounding systems.
• Coordinate with other personnel to incorporate concepts and information into drawing packages.
• Produce bills of materials (BOMs) for project systems.
• Learn and apply lightning protection standards for the design of systems on a variety of structures.
• Maintain working knowledge of CAD standards, PC application software, and drafting/engineering practices and methods.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Experience & Other Requirements

• Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and detail-oriented skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug & alcohol screening.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently with minimal oversight.
• Proficient in AutoCAD; certification or a minimum of 3–5 years of current experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Revit, Bluebeam, Procore, or other construction management software.
• Engineering, architectural, electrical, or construction industry experience.
• Knowledge of lightning protection and grounding systems.
• Understanding of communications/electrical engineering and related systems is a plus.
• Understanding of utility routing and placement techniques is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Monday–Thursday) and 8:00 AM–4:00 PM (Friday)

Work Location: In Person (Ponder, TX)
