Hicks Enterprise Manufactured Housing Installation
Brownstown, MI Full Time
POSTED ON 8/13/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/11/2026

Hicks Enterprise is seeking a seasoned, hands-on Senior Carpenter to join our Manufactured Home Installation (MHI) team. This is a high-responsibility role designed for a construction professional who can lead crews, manage projects from planning to final inspection, and take total ownership of field operations. This is not an entry-level position.

Compensation & Perks

  • W2 Employment: Stable, year-round company position (not 1099 contract work).
  • Heavy Overtime: Standard 12-hour shifts mean consistent, lucrative overtime hours paid at 1.5x your base hourly rate.
  • Company Assets: Fully equipped company trucks, trailers, and machinery provided for all field travel and jobsite tasks.

Logistical Requirements

  • Commute: Because crews travel together in company vehicles, candidates must live within approximately 15 minutes of our Brownstown reporting location.
  • Schedule: Expect long, physically demanding field days (roughly 12 hours) in varying Michigan weather conditions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Carpentry & Assembly: Perform high-quality framing, structural leveling, roofing, siding, interior/exterior finish work, and deck/porch construction.
  • Crew Leadership: Plan daily sequencing, delegate work by skill level, enforce safety, and actively train junior installers.
  • Project Management: Read blueprints and foundation layouts, solve unexpected site issues, track QC records/photos, and coordinate with inspectors and suppliers.
  • Asset Stewardship: Set the jobsite standard for the safe operation, cleaning, pre/post inspection, and secure loading of company trucks, trailers, and machinery.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Significant background in professional residential carpentry and structural framing.
  • Proven experience leading construction crews as a foreman, lead carpenter, or supervisor.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, measurements, layouts, and elevations accurately.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and building practices.
  • Sharp field problem-solving skills and the ability to identify workmanship issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Safe and competent use of construction tools and equipment, with a valid driver's license and safe driving record.

Preferred (But Not Required) Experience

  • Manufactured or modular home installation.
  • Experience hauling trailers and operating light construction machinery.
  • Guiding residential projects through final municipal inspections.
  • Experience with CAD software and the ability to create, review, or modify construction drawings and plans.

  • Can you read plans, measurements, and material takeoffs?
  • What tools and equipment are you experienced using?
  • Have you supervised or directed helpers or less-experienced tradespeople?
