Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Heavy Wrecker Driver to join our dynamic team. Duties
- Safely operate heavy-duty tow trucks, including flatbed and wrecker vehicles, to recover and transport vehicles of various sizes and types.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections prior to operation, ensuring all safety features are functional and equipment is in optimal condition.
- Load, unload, and secure vehicles using appropriate tools such as winches, chains, straps, and forklifts when necessary.
- Perform basic automotive diagnostics and mechanical assessments to identify issues or damage during recovery operations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and emergency responders to coordinate recovery efforts efficiently.
- Manage conflict situations professionally with customers or other drivers while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Maintain accurate logs of all recoveries, vehicle details, and operational activities for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience driving manual transmissions preferred.
- Proven experience operating tow trucks, flatbeds, or wrecker equipment in a commercial setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic automotive repairs or diagnostics.
- Familiarity with automotive repair tools and equipment such as forklifts or specialized recovery gear.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
- Ability to load & unload vehicles safely using appropriate techniques; experience with automotive diagnostics is a plus.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy objects, perform vehicle recovery tasks, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
