Essential Functions

504 Coordinator 

• Coordinate and manage all aspects of Section 504 plans for eligible students

• Facilitate the identification, evaluation, and eligibility determination process for students suspected of having disabilities under Section 504

• Schedule, organize, and lead 504 meetings with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators

• Develop, review, and update 504 plans to ensure appropriate accommodations are in place

• Ensure compliance with federal law (Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act) and district policies

• Maintain accurate and confidential student records, documentation, and meeting notes

• Monitor implementation of accommodations and support staff in carrying them out effectively

• Serve as a liaison between students, families, teachers, and outside agencies

• Provide training and guidance to staff on 504 procedures, accommodations, and legal requirements

• Collaborate with counselors, special education staff, and administrators to support student success

• Track student progress and review plans regularly to ensure effectiveness

• Address parent concerns and resolve issues related to accommodations and compliance

• Assist in developing intervention strategies for struggling students

• Ensure timelines and procedural safeguards are followed throughout the 504 process

• Stay current on legal updates, best practices, and district expectations related to Section 504

MTSS Coach 

• Developing, leading, implementing, monitoring, and collaborating with other educators in the school wide integration of MTSS
• Communicating with parents and working on the Management Team, Data Teams, and Problem-Solving Teams to implement the MTSS model which includes RtI and PBIS approaches
• Coaching and training colleagues on MTSS implementation
• Managing, analyzing, and utilizing student data (i.e., scoring probes, scheduling data collection, using collected data to drive student support)
• Providing direct services as follows:
• Training and ongoing coaching to school leadership teams and teachers on the MTSS framework
• Working to develop, implement, and sustain our MTSS framework
• Analyzing and utilizing student and teacher data with our School-Wide Information System (SWIS) to guide data-based decision making and enhance direct instruction
• Reviewing and updating student codes of conduct
• Supporting teachers in identifying student needs and providing appropriate interventions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of Teacher Leadership (preferred completion of Cabarrus County Schools’ program).
• Thorough knowledge of implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Responsiveness to Instruction (RtI).
• Thorough knowledge of collecting survey data from staff, students, and parents.
• Through knowledge of participating in a School Improvement Planning process.
• Thorough knowledge implementing universals as PBIS Module 1 training and planning has been completed.
• Ability to coach staff through hard conversations.
• Ability to use the problem-solving model.
• Ability to facilitate a team-lead functional behavior assessment and designing evidence-based intervention plans.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in teaching, or related field and moderate experience teaching, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

• This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
• Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting.
• Work has standard vision requirements.
• Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
• Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
• Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities.
• Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
• Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
