As a Support Teacher, you will:

  • Assist Lead Teachers in implementing a dynamic, developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Support daily classroom routines and operations to ensure a smooth, engaging learning environment
  • Build authentic partnerships with families through regular communication and collaboration
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every child is known, engaged, and encouraged to succeed

Duties and Responsibilities Classroom & Curriculum Support

  • Collaborate with Lead Teachers to implement a developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum that meets the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of each child.
  • Actively participate in and facilitate classroom activities, including circle time, learning centers, art, and outdoor play under the direction of the Lead Teachers.
  • Prepare, maintain, and organize classroom materials to ensure a clean, orderly, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Assist in daily closing procedures across the ECE campus. This may include cleaning, facility closing checklists, and communication with parents.

Child Guidance & Care

  • Utilize positive guidance techniques to create a nurturing classroom atmosphere and help children develop self-regulation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by maintaining constant supervision and following all health and safety protocols.
  • Ensure all school policies and state regulations are met.
  • Assist children with daily routines such as meals, nap time, and personal hygiene, including hand-washing and toileting.

Team & Family Collaboration

  • Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with the Lead Teachers regarding student progress, classroom needs, and any parent concerns.
  • Greet families warmly at arrival and departure, sharing positive highlights from the child's day.
  • Contribute positively to the overall school mission and vision
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist other departments as required and additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in education or related field of study or equivalent experience with young children; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. (Coursework required for other degrees within 6 months of hire.)
  • Minimum 2 year experience caring for children in a group setting
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Successful completion of state required background checks and health screening

  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and successfully manage multi-tasking situations
  • Collaborate well and foster a team environment

Schedule and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently sit on the floor, kneel, bend, squat, and crawl to interact with children at their eye level.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and move about the classroom and outdoor play areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds to support children's safety and needs.
  • Possess the visual and auditory acuity necessary to supervise a group of young children and respond quickly in an emergency.
  • Flexibility during hours of operation (7:30am - 5:30pm) to work schedule as assigned.
