Job Summary:
As a Water Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a water truck to transport and distribute water across designated areas. Your primary duties will include following assigned routes, ensuring proper water distribution for dust control or site needs, and maintaining the safety and functionality of the vehicle. You will play a key role in supporting daily operations while adhering to all safety and traffic regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a water truck to transport and distribute water to designated locations.
- Follow all Biosecurity procedures
- Follow assigned routes and schedules to meet operational needs and timelines.
- Perform water spraying for dust control and other site-specific requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Inspect the vehicle before and after use, reporting any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- Monitor water levels and refill the truck as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, both interior and exterior.
- Operate the truck safely in various terrain, weather, and job site conditions.
- Keep accurate logs of mileage, fuel usage, and daily activities.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job progress and any concerns.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Previous experience operating a water truck or similar heavy equipment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of safe driving practices and traffic laws.
- Ability to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner in varying conditions.
- Understanding of basic vehicle maintenance and inspections.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Education/Experience:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating the vehicle.
- Physical stamina to remain alert during long shifts.
- Ability to climb in and out of the truck safely.
- Adequate vision to monitor surroundings, gauges, and potential hazards.
- Adequate hearing to recognize alarms, horns, and other warning signals.
