SUMMARY
The Merchandiser, Website is responsible for product sales, margin, and profit for the Hibbett I City Gear Ecommerce channel.
Brings the merchandising strategy to life digitally using sales data, website metrics, consumer research, and competitive intelligence to build best in class shopping experiences and digital marketing program to produce results that align with Hibbett I City Gear’s business objectives.
Presents and manages merchandise on the Hibbett I City Gear website, ensuring products are represented accurately and effectively for the consumer, brand direction, and marketing initiatives.
Works cross functionally with the buying, marketing, and creative team to coordinate product and content updates. Works and builds relationships with outside vendors to set up items outside of the normal buys and to tell the stories about each product and brand.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for online sales of their product category including margin and profit. Other key KPI’s for this role includes conversion, traffic and aov / aur for their categories.
- Improve overall site conversion by adding dropship, changing facets in each department, and constantly viewing design setups for each page.
Perform Ecommerce item quality assurance.
Responsible for the digital merchandising of their product category, including, Searchandising -making sure site search is optimized for their categories, sort orders-managing the orders in which products show up on the product listing page and other product result pages, website navigation & taxonomy as well as facets-ensuring that the customer can easily find what they want.
This includes the addition or subtraction of navigational elements and facets and ensuring that product detail pages contain the richest possible information for customers which includes managing questions and answers as well as working with marketing to obtain as many ratings & reviews and UGC as possible.
- Work with marketing team to be the liaison between merchandising and marketing and develop the marketing story of different products.
- Serve as digital thought leader for their categories; helping to identify new technologies and features by benchmarking competitor activity and attending conferences, reading industry news sources and meeting with vendors.
Merchandisers works with the ecommerce team to develop enhancements and functionality. Determine strategies to build average order values through add on strategies and product assortments.
Use market basket data and other sources of information to successfully execute add-ons and soft bundles. Ensure each category is maintained to company standards and strategy.
Manage the coordination and execution of all dropship partnerships and products. Manage the dropship program and build products on the website.
Consistently look for ways to improve the site performance.
The merchandiser is the face of digital for the merchandising / planning teams. Meet regularly to share insights, reporting, discuss website roadmap items, and obtain feedback.
Attend any regularly scheduled meetings for their areas including vendor meetings. Participate in EOQ reviews and work with merchandising counterparts to prepare and present digital strategies.
Share valuable information and educate company business partners on online sales trends to improve assortment and inventory levels.
Merchandisers drive the digital marketing for their categories. They work with merchandising / planning to obtain information on upcoming offers and (if needed) jointly come up with new offers.
Work with marketing to obtain the appropriate resources to support their campaigns (emails, texts, social posts, and other forms of digital marketing).
Work with the Ecommerce team for the creation and implementation of content spots on the website. Provide necessary information on promotional details, key items, and messaging for creative, marketing, and content teams to create and execute.
Review the effectiveness of these tactics, continuously improving programs and sharing pertinent information with merchandising peers.
- Analyze the effectiveness of promotions. Provide financial reporting, data analysis, and present data to buyer, leadership teams, and vendors.
- Work with planning, finance, and the Senior Director, Web Merchandising to forecast and plan Ecommerce sales, margin, and operating profit.
- Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and / or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.

No supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-3 or more years of experience in merchandising with store buying and / or planning experience preferred
- Prior success in launching a digital channel or growing a digital business
- Experience working for a retail company
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
