What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Children's Ministry position at Hibben United Methodist Church?
DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES
PART-TIME, SALARIED (20 Hrs. per week)
Responsible for the administration, supervision, and leadership of Hibben UMC’s Children’s Ministries as part of the church’s Discipleship Team.
Reports to the Lead Pastor.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
- Direct, coordinate, and implement Children’s Ministry programs and events.
- Coordinate staffing for care of infants and toddlers and manage nursery schedule. Supervise Nursery Assistants, including personnel reviews, time cards and training.
- Coordinate volunteer and staff support for Sunday morning ministries to children.
- Provide guidance, training, and recruitment to volunteer leaders working with Children’s Ministry programs.
- Administer and ensure compliance with the church’s Safe Sanctuary Policy related to Children’s Ministry programs.
- Prepare and manage the annual Children’s Ministry budget.
- Assist with recognition events, Christian Year special events, and seasonal events (Vacation Bible School, etc.).
- Develop relationships with children, parents, and families.
- Develop relationships with all Hibben staff members in order to work as a ministry team and assist with transitions from Children’s Ministries to Confirmation/Youth, and other ministry areas.
- Provide accountability through ministry reports to Church Council and Staff/Parish Relations Committee. Regularly attend Church Council meetings. Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Provide leadership and resources to the Children’s Council.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in theology, education, or a related field with experience in children's ministry is preferred. Combinations of pertinent education and experience directly relatable to this position will also be considered.
- Must possess strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have a passion for working with children and families.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Attendance at Sunday church service is mandatory. Attendance at evening church committee meetings, gatherings, training, and events may be required.
- Must complete Safe Sanctuary Certification.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be proficient with Windows Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.

Pay: $26,000.00 - $31,200.00 per year
