Overview

Hi! Tech is seeking a highly skilled, client-facing AV/IT Support Specialist to support Workplace technology operations for a key client in Pittsburgh. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting integrated audio-visual systems and workplace technology environments, while also providing IT helpdesk support as part of a broader technical team. The position operates in an 80/20 split between Workplace AV/IT and IT Helpdesk and serves as a subject-matter expert across AV systems, conferencing technologies, and event production. This individual will act as both a technical operator and consultant, ensuring that AV environments are reliable, scalable, and aligned with client needs, while delivering a high-touch, white-glove user experience.


Key Responsibilities


AV Systems Support, Troubleshooting & Optimization

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex AV hardware, software, and network-related issues across client environments.
  • Support and optimize AV systems in conference rooms, executive boardrooms, and all-hands spaces to ensure consistent, high-quality performance.
  • Provide real-time AV support during meetings, presentations, and high-visibility live or hybrid events.
  • Act as a technical producer for live events, managing audio, video, recording, and streaming workflows.
  • Partner closely with IT teams to troubleshoot integrated AV/IT environments.


AV Implementation, Design & Maintenance

  • Install, configure, test, and maintain AV equipment, including displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, and conferencing systems (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams).
  • Work with integrated control systems such as Atlona, Q-SYS, Shure, Tesira, and similar platforms.
  • Support AV-over-IP technologies and protocols, such as Dante and NDI.
  • Perform proactive maintenance, system diagnostics, firmware updates, and calibration to ensure system reliability.
  • Assist in designing and implementing new AV solutions and upgrades aligned with client needs and Hi! Tech standards.
  • Develop and maintain cable management plans, signal flow diagrams, and infrastructure designs.


IT Helpdesk & End-User Support (20%)

  • Provide Tier 1–2 IT support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Support laptops, peripherals, printers, mobile devices, and collaboration tools.
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding, including device setup and access provisioning.
  • Support Wi-Fi connectivity and basic network troubleshooting.


Client Experience & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as an on-site trusted advisor for workplace and AV technology.
  • Deliver a polished, white-glove support experience to employees and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, network engineers, vendors, and third-party integrators.
  • Liaise with architects, designers, and contractors during buildouts to ensure AV integration aligns with project requirements.
  • Maintain strong communication across Slack, email, Jira, and other channels.


Documentation, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including SOPs, knowledge base articles, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Develop technical drawings, cable schedules, and system documentation for AV deployments.
  • Track and report on completed work, system performance, and recurring issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve AV reliability, scalability, and user experience.
  • Stay current on emerging AV technologies, trends, and best practices.


Qualifications


Experience

  • 3–6 years of experience in AV systems, IT support, or workplace technology.
  • Experience supporting integrated AV environments and live events.
  • Background in corporate, client-facing, or high-touch support environments strongly preferred.


Technical Expertise

  • AV systems: displays, microphones, speakers, cameras, control systems
  • Conferencing: Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams
  • Control systems: Atlona, Q-SYS, Shure, Tesira (or similar)
  • AV over IP: Dante, NDI (or similar)
  • IT support: MacOS, Windows, peripherals, networking fundamentals
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (Jira or similar)

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for an AV/IT Support Specialist based in Pittsburgh, PA. This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining workplace audio-visual systems, conference room technology, and end-user IT support within a client environment. The role operates in an 80/20 split between AV/IT and IT Helpdesk support. It requires a hands-on, client-facing professional who can troubleshoot issues in real time, support high-visibility meetings and events, and ensure a seamless workplace technology experience. This individual will work closely with internal teams and client stakeholders to support conference rooms, collaboration tools, and employee technology needs.


Responsibilities


AV / Workplace Technology

  • Set up, operate, and support conference room AV systems including displays, microphones, cameras, and control systems
  • Provide real-time support for meetings, presentations, and hybrid conferencing (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams)
  • Troubleshoot AV issues in live environments, including executive and all-hands meetings
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance to ensure conference rooms are fully operational
  • Support live and virtual events, including basic audio, video, and streaming coordination


IT Support

  • Provide Tier 1–2 support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Support laptops, peripherals, printers, and mobile devices
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding, including device setup and access provisioning
  • Troubleshoot Wi-Fi and basic networking issues


Operations & Collaboration

  • Act as an on-site point of contact for workplace technology support
  • Partner with IT, engineering, and vendor teams to resolve issues
  • Maintain AV and IT inventory and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed
  • Document issues, resolutions, and standard processes


Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in AV support, IT support, or workplace technology
  • Experience supporting conference room AV systems and live meeting environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across AV and basic IT systems
  • Experience with Zoom, Google Meet, and/or Microsoft Teams
  • Familiarity with MacOS and Windows environments
  • Strong communication and customer service skills in a client-facing setting
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • AVIXA CTS or similar certifications are a plus
