Essential Functions:
- Develops, implements, manages and tracks new process systems and improvements that increase efficiency, safety and morale.
- Educates manufacturing engineers, technicians, and (occasionally) contract personnel to promote/ensure continuous improvement.
- Controls and manages project schedules, budgets, and expenses.
- Develops project scopes and definitions that can apply to both internal and external resources.
- Develops estimates for equipment, tooling and labor for lowest cost and highest quality solutions for new and existing business.
- Identifies and selects vendors from which to order tooling and equipment.
- Encourage team involvement, where associates are interviewed and participate in the corrective actions, and implementation of solutions.
- Promotes Kaizen improvement initiatives and lean methods to eliminate non-value-added activities, and to improve productivity, quality, and associate morale.
- Monitor manufacturing processing performance and develop improvements to help the manufacturing element be more effective and create less waste.
- Fosters an environment, at all levels of the organization, conducive to rapid problem solving.
- Promotes an associate relations environment that is consistent with long-term management objectives.

- Office environment with noise from computer peripherals such as mainframe, disk drives and printers.
- Exposure to moving equipment, parts and electrical shock.
- Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
- Daily lifts, carries or moves objects – up to 25 pounds.
- Sometimes lifts, carries, or moves objects – up to 50 pounds.
- Factory environment with noise from manufacturing equipment.
- Job requires standing, walking, climbing stairs and sitting.
- Operations require stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing or crawling.
- Ability to hear warnings from equipment, machines, vehicles and public-address systems.
- Operations highly repetitive.
- Requires pushing, pulling, twisting, and reaching.
- Require reaching below and above shoulder height.
- Require movement of head and neck.
- Clothing and shoes must comply with current MIOSHA regulations and current dress code policy.
- Dust, noise, heat, molten material, vibration, chemicals moving vehicles and manufacturing odor.
- The factory condition environment is not air conditioned but heated.
- Coordinates external contractors as well as internal resources to assist with the completion of projects.
- Performs all other duties as necessary.
- 4-year degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent field preferred.
- 2-5 years experience in production line or tooling/machine design preferred.
- 2-5 years project management experience (MS Project Gantt chart creation and utilization).
- 2-5 years experience employing standardized labor estimation tools and methods (Modapts).
- 2-5 years experience employing manufacturing process defect prevention tools and methods (PFMEA).
- Knowledge of production tooling, cost estimation, electrical machine controls, and PLC programming.
- Experience with plastic extrusion and/or plastic injection molding is preferred but not required.
