What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance III - 2nd shift position at Hi-Lex Controls?
Perform duties to maintain and repair a variety of building and plant equipment, construct facility, production and office work areas. Works from complicated electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, sketches, handbook formulas, machine manuals and instructions equivalent to a complete accredited apprenticeship in a recognized trade, craft or occupation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical problems involving relay logic, programmable controllers and electronic devices. Reads ladder logic and hard wiring blueprints.
- Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate cause of trouble. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Starts and tests devices to determine performance.
- Performs preventative maintenance on machinery.
- Makes replacement parts, prototype equipment, jigs and fixtures.
- Able to build machinery from complex mechanical, pneumatic and electrical prints and properly hook machinery to plant utilities.
- Able to perform advanced building maintenance on compressors, HVAC and minor roof repair.
- Relocate plant equipment; make necessary electrical, pneumatic and water line connections.
- Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Perform essential functions of Maintenance A & B.
- Follows all safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly 5-s condition.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Specialized Training, Skills, Abilities, Experience:
- Ability to read electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and construction blueprints and work orders blueprints and work orders.
- Correctly use required measuring equipment such as a caliper, micrometer, and electrical measuring instruments.
- Ability to safely operate all tooling & fabrication equipment (Lathe, mill surface grinder, drill press, arc welder, cutting torch, etc.).
- May be required to lead shifts.
- 3 to 5 years experience in Maintenance.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
- Factory environment with noise from manufacturing equipment. Exposure to moving equipment, parts and electrical shock, also exposed to burns/welding/cutting.
- Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
- Sometimes carries or moves objects up to 50 pounds.
- Daily lifts, lifts carries or moves objects up to 25 pounds.
