In the U.S., HI-LEX operates under three divisions: HI-LEX America in Battle Creek, Michigan; HI-LEX Controls in Hudson, Litchfield, and Hazel Park, Michigan; and Daedong HI-LEX of America in Cusseta, Alabama. The company’s automotive center is in Rochester Hills, Michigan which consists of finance, sales, engineering, testing, and program management, and will serve as the location for the new Assistant Maintenance Manager.
POSITION SUMMARY
This individual will assist and support the Director of Operations in overseeing daily maintenance operations. This individual is responsible for assisting with the planning, coordination, and supervision of maintenance activities to ensure machinery, products, and equipment are operational, safe, and efficient. Additional duties include collaborating with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and enhance equipment reliability.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and records in PLEX.
- Assist the Director of Operations in the operational and fiscal activities in the Maintenance group.
- Identify and select vendors for equipment, fixtures, and supplies.
- Responsible for maintaining MRO supplies and spare parts inventory.
- Identify opportunities for productivity and quality improvement and implement the necessary measures to realize these improvements.
- Oversee Maintenance activities which include plant expansion, plant maintenance, equipment maintenance, and external services: cleaning, lawn, plumbing, electrical, etc.
- Manage employee performance and recommends changes in job duties and employee status.
- Maintain standards which includes mechanical and maintenance standards.
- Supervise and educate the maintenance team to ensure continuous improvement.
- Serve on various committees as required.
- Perform any other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
- High-School diploma required.
- Associate's degree or working towards an associate’s degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of blueprints, process analysis, CAD, and drafting terminology.
- Broad knowledge of machine shop and basic accounting principles.
- Knowledge of tooling, costing, and maintenance management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Works in a factory environment with noise from the manufacturing processes. Exposure to moving equipment, parts and electrical shock. Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
- Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects – weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Office environment with noise from computer peripherals such as printer and disk drives.
