Job DescriptionThe Cook is responsible for preparing, seasoning and cooking food for hospital patients/residents, employees and visitors, maintaining and cleaning the work area, practicing safe and sanitary handling of food, equipment and supplies. Performs other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.General Experience: One (1) year of experience in quantity cookery; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.Substitution of Education for Experience: 1. An Associate in Science degree, from an accredited college in culinary arts, food service management, or comparable major, which demonstrated knowledge of quantity cooking, may be substituted for the General Experience.2. A Certificate of Achievement (at least 30 semester credit hours) from an accredited college in culinary arts, or comparable major, which demonstrated knowledge of quantity cooking, may be substituted for the General Experience.3.
