Job Description
East Hawaii Health Cancer Center, part of the East Hawaii Region of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, is seeking an experienced Registered Professional Nurse V to lead and manage oncology services in our Cancer Center. This leadership role oversees daily operations, clinical quality, and staff performance across radiation and medical oncology services, including chemotherapy and infusion therapies. The position plays a critical role in driving patient-centered care, operational excellence, and strategic growth for oncology services across the island.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight of daily operations for the oncology center, including staffing, scheduling, and coordination of nursing and clerical teams.
- Develop, implement, and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff performance; lead hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Collaborate with physicians, administrators, and interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care delivery, operational efficiency, and service integration.
- Manage departmental budgets, monitor financial performance, and identify cost-containment opportunities while maintaining high-quality care standards.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements, including Joint Commission and other governing bodies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of one and one-half (1.5) years of professional nursing experience in an oncology clinic/unit, including at least six (6) months of supervisory or leadership experience. The required experience must have been gained within the past two (2) years.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within one (1) month of hire; Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification required at the time of appointment.
- Licensure: Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Hawaiʻi.

- Rates listed for paid holidays, vacation and sick days are for 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.
Pre-Employment Health Requirements
Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
