Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Dietary Aide/Server to join our team. In this role, you will assist in meal service, food preparation, and maintaining sanitation standards within a healthcare or senior living setting. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a positive dining experience for residents and patients while ensuring compliance with safety and dietary requirements.
Duties
- Serve meals to residents or patients in accordance with their dietary needs and preferences
- Assist with food preparation, including basic cooking, portioning, and plating of meals
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas through proper sanitation and cleaning procedures
- Support the dietary department by bussing tables, clearing trays, and ensuring a tidy environment
- Adhere to food safety protocols, including proper handling of food and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently during meal service and preparation
- Follow established procedures for manual handling and safe lifting practices to prevent injury
Skills
- Prior assisted living or dietary aide experience preferred; food industry or culinary background is a plus
- Knowledge of food production, preparation, and serving techniques
- Familiarity with food safety standards such as JCAHO guidelines and sanitation practices
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work compassionately with geriatric patients or residents
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and adhere to workplace safety protocols
- Basic math skills for portioning and inventory management
- Experience working in nursing homes, hospitals, or similar healthcare environments is highly desirable
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely while following proper lifting techniques
- Knowledge of nutrition principles relevant to senior care settings
