Responsibilities
- Work closely with project managers to ensure expenses and labor costs are charged to the correct jobs
- Track construction costs for roads, utilities, amenities, and other development projects
- Set up new jobs and maintain accurate job-costing information
- Partner with the payroll team to allocate labor costs accurately
- Manage employee PTO processing and track PTO availability
- Prepare job-costing and construction reports for month-end close
- Complete quarry month-end reporting
- Assist with bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Work with the Accounting team to properly allocate internal costs
- Conduct and facilitate physical inventories of quarry rock, seed, stone, and other materials
- Assist with drone-based inventory estimates
- Prepare cost estimates and other ad hoc reports for construction projects
- Prepare billing for construction work performed for third parties
- Strengthen communication between Construction Operations and Accounting
- Work directly with operations employees to improve processes and maintain accurate financial information
- Assist with additional accounting and operational projects as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Construction accounting or job-costing experience highly preferred
- QuickBooks experience required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Bill.com, QuickBooks Desktop, and ExakTime preferred
- Experience with inventory accounting and balance sheet reconciliations preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Confident and assertive, with the ability to hold others accountable and provide clear direction
- Comfortable working with both accounting professionals and field-based operations teams
- Willingness to spend time at active construction and job sites
- Compensation: $75,000–$90,000
- Bonus opportunity: Annual Christmas bonus
- Schedule: Hybrid, with three days in the office, one day at the job site, and one day working remotely
