Position Summary
The Forklift Mechanic will perform maintenance and repairs on forklifts to the standards set forth in the scope of work developed by the customer.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities:

Inspects forklift fleet to ensure equipment is working properly and safely.

Identifies any forklifts that need repairs.

Removes unsafe equipment from facility operating area and notifies supervisor.

Repairs and maintains various types of forklifts including electric, gas-powered, and propane-powered.

Tests forklifts to ensure repairs are completed correctly.

Schedules and performs routine maintenance for forklift.

Ensures batteries for electric forklifts are fully charged.

Replaces empty propane tanks on propane-powered forklifts.

Maintains repair log for forklift fleet.
-
Maintains professional and courteous relationships with coworkers and customers.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to use hand and power tools to repair forklifts.

Ability to read repair manuals for various types of forklifts.
-
Excellent mechanical repair skills.

Ability to follow instructions.

Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education And/or Experience
-
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
-
Vocational / technical school training or apprenticeship required.

Must be able to lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach, push, pull, or lift up to 100 pounds.

Must be physically capable of accessing all parts of the forklift truck needing repairs or maintenance, either by kneeling or lying on back.

May be subjected to varying levels of noise, air quality, lighting, and exposure to the elements.
