Position Summary
The Trash Porter plays a pivotal role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the facilities. They are responsible for the efficient collection and disposal of waste materials, ensuring that all areas remain free of debris and clutter.
Essential Functions
An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Collecting trash and recyclables from designated areas within the facility.
- Sorting waste materials according to recycling guidelines and disposing of the appropriately.
- Emptying trash bins and replacing lines as needed to prevent overflow.
- Monitoring and reporting any issues or hazards related to waste disposal, such as spills or leaks.
- May perform minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, restocking paper towels, tissue and other supplies.
- May use powered equipment such as golf carts/ATV, vacuum cleaners, leaf blowers, and fogging machines.
- Assists in examining the facility for safety hazards; additional services that are needed, reports deficiencies to supervisor.
- Responsible for securing keys and security badges issued.
- Maintain customer and company confidentiality.
- Maintain professional and courteous relationships with coworkers and the customer.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous experience in similar industry preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid USA Driver’s License or USA State Identification required.
- Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
Physical Activities
The following physical activities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, crouching.
- Must be able to lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach, push, pull, or lift up to 25 pounds frequently or 35 pounds occasionally.
- May be subjected to varying levels of noise, air quality, lighting, and exposure to the elements.
- Will have contact with chemicals commonly used in the janitorial industry.
- Will have contact with latex products including gloves.
