Student Nurse

Overview

The Nurse Tech works under the direction of the RN/LPN. The responsibilities of the Nurse Tech include providing direct patient care and maintaining patient care standards. The Nurse Tech must exhibit the ability to work with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds; to organize, set priorities and manage multiple, priorities and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Qualifications

Education: High School/GED required. Candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Completed a minimum of 2 semesters of clinical experience within an academic nursing program.
• Completed the following educational courses and clinical experience: Fundamentals of Nursing and Pharmacology including medication administration.
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited Associate Degree, Diploma or Baccalaureate Professional Nursing Program.
• Nursing graduates pending completion of NCLEX are also eligible.

License/Certification: BLS required before conclusion of orientation period. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent preferred.
