Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, orthodontics and periodontics.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following infection prevention management protocols
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while ensuring adherence to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques
- Manage patient records using Open Dental
- Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and compassion
- Support patient management software systems to schedule appointments, update medical documentation, and facilitate smooth patient flow
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental assisting practices
- Familiarity with Open Dental.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, dental equipment operation, and infection control standards including dental sterilization procedures
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and accurately; knowledge of dental x-ray technology is essential
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and proficiency in oral surgery assistance is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with patients, dentists, hygienists, and other team members effectively
- Certification in radiography or X-ray safety preferred; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or endodontics are a plus
