PROJECT MANAGER | HGW ARCHITECTURE

HGW Architecture is currently seeking a Project Manager to join our team. We are a design studio of 25 Architects and Interior Designers located just a few blocks from the beach in Ocean Beach, San Diego. We are grounded in the belief that every contribution to the built environment should leave a positive and lasting impact on the world. Our work spans a range of scales and project types, united by a commitment to design excellence, technical rigor, and a deeply collaborative process.


Primary Responsibilities:

Leadership Skills

Project Management

  • Leads projects through planning, design, permitting, and construction.
  • Serves as primary day-to-day client contact, fostering strong, long-term relationships.
  • Balances design intent with constructability, budget, and schedule to achieve clearly defined project goals.
  • Assists with proposals, work plans, and fee management in collaboration with Principals and firm leadership.

Technical Design & Execution

  • Leads and contributes to drawings and specifications, including detailed and technically complex building components.
  • Defines and upholds the project’s technical approach and standards for quality, coordination, and documentation.
  • Directs construction administration (submittals, RFIs, site/field observations).
  • Ensures all documentation complies with applicable codes, standards, and HGW’s internal quality expectations.

Team & Consultant Coordination

  • Coordinates and guides internal teams, design consultants, and collaborators to maintain clear communication and integrated project delivery.
  • Organizes and facilitates project meetings, tracking decisions, action items, and follow-through.


Required Qualifications:

·       Professional degree in Architecture

·       Minimum of 8 years of experience in a professional architectural setting

·       Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, AutoCAD, and Sketchup

·       Licensed Architect preferred

·       DSA experience a plus




Additional Information:

Salary Range: $95,000-$130,000

Firm Size: Medium (15-50)

We offer health benefits including dental and vision, (7) paid holidays, paid time off (accrued), paid sick time off, 401(k) benefits, continuation education stipend, paid AIA dues, ARE reimbursement for passed exams, and eligibility for bonus program. Core office hours are 9am-5pm Monday through Thursday with the ability to flex between 7am-7pm. Office hours are 8am-12pm on Fridays. All hours are full-time in the office as we value in-studio collaboration.
