Position Summary:
We are hiring a Board-Certified Chief Therapeutic Medical Physicist (CTMP) to support the VA Maryland Health Care System’s Radiation Oncology Program in Baltimore, MD. This role is responsible for overseeing physics operations, ensuring compliance with ACR/ASTRO/APeX standards, and supporting daily clinical operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Medical Physics or related field
- ABR Board Certification in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Radiological Physics (Required)
- Minimum 5 years post-board clinical experience
Minimum 3 years recent experience (within past 5 years) in:
- Varian Linear Accelerators (Edge or equivalent)
- IGRT & Cone Beam CT (TG-142)
- Eclipse TPS & ARIA
2D/3D, IMRT, VMAT, SRS, SBRT (TG-53)
Experience performing:
- Acceptance testing
- Beam data collection
Commissioning
- Familiarity with Sun Nuclear / SunCHECK preferred
- Knowledge of ACR / ASTRO APeX accreditation
- CPRS/VA experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities:
- Serve as CTMP for the Baltimore VA Radiation Oncology program
- Ensure compliance with ACR, AAPM, ASTRO, and VA NROP/NHPP standards
- Oversee QA program, equipment calibration, annual/ monthly checks
- Support SRS/SBRT, IMRT/VMAT planning & delivery
- Attend: chart rounds, peer review, tumor boards, safety meetings
- Lead radiation safety and incident reporting (RIRAS)
- Provide leadership to physics and dosimetry staff
- Submit quarterly QA reports
