What are the responsibilities and job description for the Congregate Residential Counselor- Relief position at HFLW Brand?
The Home for Little Wanderers, Children's Collaborative, located in Roxbury Crossing is looking for a Per Diem Residential Counselors to make a difference in the lives of youth who have experienced trauma and/or who have significant emotional and behavioral challenges.
How You Will Be Making a Difference
- Join a dynamic team of professionals implementing our trauma-informed care model.
- Support youth in developing the skills they need to successfully transition home to families.
- Teach age appropriate life skills, coping skills, and social skills through modeling, counseling, and other techniques.
- Participate in groups and activities designed to enhance youth growth and development. Participate in both on-site and off-site recreational/educational activities.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment. The Home offers extensive training and support to all new staff and many opportunities for career and professional development.
What to Expect in the Role
- Passing the DEEC CORI/DCF background check and having a valid ID
- Being physically active for an 8-10 hour shift
- Participating in verbal de-escalation and physical intervention with youth
- Multi-tasking in a changing and fast-paced treatment environment
- Receiving and implement feedback in the moment and through a structured supervision process
- Ability to work evenings, holidays, weekend shifts as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience working with youth, particularly in a similar setting preferred
