About The Role
As a college intern at HFG Architecture, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and apply your academic knowledge in a professional architectural setting. You will work alongside experienced architects and professionals on various projects, contributing to the design, planning, and implementation stages. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience and insight into the architectural industry and conduct necessary research and project experience to fulfill University requirements.

This role requires approximately 0-10% travel for project-related needs, including office visits, client meetings, and occasional industry events.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
Architectural Design & Support:
- Assist the design team with concept development, including sketches, 3D models, and renderings using CAD and modeling software.
- Support the refinement and development of architectural plans under the guidance of licensed architects and project leaders.
- Conduct research on building materials, construction techniques, sustainability strategies, and emerging healthcare design trends.
- Support evidence-based design efforts by gathering and summarizing relevant research to inform design decisions.
- Participate in site visits and construction observations alongside project architects to gain exposure to the construction process.
- Assist with documenting site conditions, progress, and coordination items as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of architectural drawings, construction documents, and specifications.
- Support accuracy, consistency, and adherence to firm standards and project requirements throughout documentation phases.
- Collaborate with architects and project managers to support project goals.
- Participate in design discussions, team meetings, and coordination efforts across project phases.
- Actively engage in firm-provided training sessions, workshops, and learning opportunities.
- Seek feedback and mentorship from team members to support professional growth and development within the architectural field.

Qualifications
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university program pursuing a degree in architecture or related field.
- Basic knowledge of architectural principles, design concepts, and construction methods.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar tools.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented mindset with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to architectural projects.
- Familiarity with sustainable design practices and building codes/regulations is a plus.
- Previous internship or work experience in an architectural firm is beneficial but not required.
