Basic Function
HF Sinclair in Dallas, TX is seeking a Refinery Accounting Analyst to conduct complex yields accounting assignments with general supervision and acts as resource and lead position for less experienced personnel.
Job Duties
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
- Analyzes and maintains accurate daily refinery yields, determining profit and loss for the refinery
- Maintains General Ledger Accounts
- Performs inventory reconciliations and account reconciliations
- Performs crude oil and natural gas reconciliations
- Calculates and approves 3rd party terminalling fees
- Manipulates and analyzes financial reports and records at a high level
- Monitors timely completion of routine to complex yields accounting duties
- Oversees day-to-day accounting operations
- Supervises and completes special projects as required
- Provides training and guidance to less experienced accounting personnel
Other duties may include some or all of the following:
- May perform lease crude duties consisting of severance tax reporting, royalty payments and reporting, netout payments, and reconciliation of vendor accounts
- May prepare and assist with EIA reporting as needed
- May supervise taking of water cut and gauging of plant inventory
- May review invoices to marketers
- May measure volumes and track actual vs. budget volumes by site
- May track and analyze all branding master file additions, changes, and de-branding
- May assist lower level associates in processing diesel and jet fuel entries and other reports as necessary
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience
A minimum of nine years of related job experience is required.
Education Level
A minimum of a High School Diploma is required
Required Skills
Ability to perform complex accounting analysis. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products, experience with accounting and maintenance software. A broad understanding of accounting practices and procedures is required. Ability to manage projects and assignments with extreme accuracy and efficiency. May require ability to manage and analyze detailed inventory movements for multiple location, depending on location. Ability to affectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication, ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations, intermediate reading and writing skills.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
Acts as resource and lead position for less experienced personnel.
Work Conditions
Office based with occasional refinery visits from time to time. Sometime will be required to work in petroleum refinery environment. Subject to all weather, including out-of-doors and varying road conditions. May be required to work flexible hours.
Physical Requirements
Job conditions require sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, perceiving color differences. Job conditions may require standing, walking, lifting and/or carrying up to 125lbs, and wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).
