Role Description The Earned Media Strategist is a part-time, remote role focused on developing and executing earned media strategies that advance nonprofit advocacy campaigns. Day-to-day responsibilities include researching media opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with journalists and outlets, and crafting compelling pitches, press releases, and media advisories. The strategist will coordinate distribution plans across digital and traditional channels, monitor coverage, and analyze performance to inform future outreach. This role also involves collaborating with internal team members and clients to align media efforts with broader communications, digital, and marketing strategies, while ensuring messaging is inclusive and mission-driven.
Compensation $25/hr-$30/hr DOE
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Media Planning and Media Strategy for advocacy or nonprofit-focused campaigns.
- Experience developing integrated Digital Strategy and Marketing initiatives that support earned media efforts.
- Ability to use Web Analytics and related tools to measure media impact, audience engagement, and campaign effectiveness.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience writing pitches, press releases, and talking points.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with nonprofit advocacy, public affairs, or cause-based communications is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Comfort working with diverse stakeholders and commitment to inclusive, equitable communication practices.
