What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Assembler (NWAM) position at Hewes Marine?

This position has the responsibility to prep and assemble instrument panels, electrical harnesses,
and other system components and accessories. This position reports to the Production Lead.
Examples of Responsibilities:
- Read and understand basic assembly schematics, build drawings, and work instructions to kit/organize parts, cut wire, assemble electrical assemblies, panels, and harnesses.
- Effectively perform work responsibilities, sometimes with little supervision.
- Apply the correct tools and methods for crimping (electrical and mechanical connection) wires to terminals as part of assembly.
- The employee must have knowledge of and be able to recognize various wire gauge types/sizes and common electrical terminals, then apply the correct terminals to the wire and complete assembly – reliably and safely.
- Operating various hand tools properly and effectively, including hand strippers, crimpers, wire cutters, screw guns, and other various hand tools as required.
- Operate tools and equipment, including automatic wire Cut & Strip machines, and semiautomatic crimping machines.
- Maintaining a record of time consumed for each work order by properly clocking in and out of each job and task.
- Providing good communication to supervision and co-workers as issues arise or problems are discovered.
- Participate in root cause and corrective action.
- Ensure employee adheres to all company policies and Health and Safety rules and regulations during their shift.
- Cleaning the work area at the end of their shift and maintaining good housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace.
- Understanding and consuming company resources in an effective manner to ensure the best operating costs.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities, reducing costs, improving safety, quality, and efficiency.
Education/Experience:
- High School Graduate or GED
- No experience required. 2 years of working experience in hand-assembly operations
- Good written and verbal communications
- Lead by example. May be required to assist in the instruction of new employees on various
- assembly techniques, methods, and other miscellaneous shop work.
Compensation:
- This position is a full-time, hourly position within Northwest Applied Marine Company.
- Work schedule Monday – Friday
- Some overtime work may be required.
- Starting wage $21.00 to $24.50 per hour, DOE
- Excellent Benefits package including medical, dental, vision, accrued paid leave, paid
- holidays, and 401 K.
