Role Summary

As a founding Fuel Cell System Product Manager, you will be responsible for creating and managing the full lifecycle of our fuel cell systems, including vehicle integration, in-field service, and recycling/reuse. This role requires a balance of technical depth, operational awareness, and strong interpersonal skills, with both inward- and outward-facing responsibilities. You will quantify and drive reductions in operational expenses across the value chain while maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, high-performance products.

We are seeking a hungry, humble, and smart leader—someone who takes initiative to continuously improve systems and scale operations efficiently, collaborates effectively across engineering, operations, and customer teams, and applies thoughtful, data-driven decision-making to complex challenges. Your work will directly influence how our systems integrate into defense, public safety, and commercial sectors, ensuring that Heven AeroTech remains the gold standard for rugged, high-performance autonomous systems.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide program oversight for the end-to-end management of Heven’s fuel cell powertrains, ensuring all milestones are met from initial specifications through system and field testing, with a proactive, results-driven (hungry) mindset.
  • Coordinate across electrochemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to optimize system efficiency, thermal management, and user interfaces, fostering a collaborative and respectful (humble) team environment.
  • Identify and manage relationships with key vendors for fuel cells and hybridization, supporting the transition from low-volume prototyping to scalable manufacturing through thoughtful, data-informed (smart) decision-making.
  • Identify risks early, develop mitigation plans, and drive innovation and automation to reduce exposure, demonstrating ownership and continuous improvement (hungry).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, suppliers, and internal teams, communicating clearly and effectively while building trust and alignment (humble and smart).
  • Review program and contract expenses, reconcile with forecasts, and address unexpected costs using analytical, data-driven approaches (smart).
  • Develop financial tracking and resource allocation tools, maintaining accurate documentation and capturing lessons learned to improve future performance (hungry and smart).
  • Continuously evaluate processes and outcomes, leveraging data to drive improvements and lead successful program closure activities (smart).
  • Uphold industry and military standards, regulations, and safety guidelines with integrity and accountability (humble).

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5 years working with fuel cells.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with technical and business stakeholders.
  • ability to travel between sites in Virginia and Washington State.
  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance. Must be a "U.S. Person" (citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) per ITAR/EAR requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience with hydrogen system regulations.
  • Experience with military certification pathways.
  • Experience building integrated program schedules.
  • Experience with lithium ion batteries.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based work (e.g., program management, data review, reporting), as well as stand and walk for extended periods during site visits, testing, and field operations.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull equipment or materials up to 25 pounds, and up to 40–50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and other safety gear as required in manufacturing, laboratory, or field environments.
