NOTES:
1. This position is open until filled.
2. Part time; 4-5 hours per day on school days
JOB GOAL: To assist in the supervision of and the direct preparation of food for school meals.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Supervisor of Food Service
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience in institutional or large scale food preparation preferred, but training is available
2. Ability to interact with students and staff in a pleasant manner
3. Desire to continue career improvement
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
1. Prolonged sitting and standing
2. Repetitive motions
3. Flexibility required in work hours
4. Physical exertion to manually move, pull, or push heavy objects or materials
5. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted
6. Stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, and turning
7. Frequent work in noisy, crowded, stressful environments with numerous interruptions
8. Must work in and around fumes and odors
TERMS:
1. At will
2. Term of assignment is generally 9.5 months
3. Wage and benefits determined annually by the Board of Education
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Support the district’s vision, mission, and values
2. Implement all policies and statutes as determined by various governmental agencies, the Kansas State Department of Education, and the local board of education
3. Assist in food preparation
4. Support the value of an education by attending training as assigned by the food service director
5. Assist the kitchen manager and cooks in kitchen operations, including serving and dish washing
6. Know and practice basic principals of quantity food cookery
7. Practice proper operation of equipment to assure safety and avoid damage to equipment
8. Follow standardized recipes carefully; weigh and measure food ingredients accurately
9. Maintain clean work area
10. Follow good sanitation practices
11. Prepare accurate time sheets for each pay period
12. Communicate effectively with school district personnel, students, and community
13. React to change productively, positively, and effectively
14. Work cooperatively and constructively with others within the organization
15. Perform other duties as assigned by the food service director
