Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Hays, KS, for a Welding Production Supervisor. The position involves overseeing day-to-day welding production operations and managing production schedules and planning to ensure timely delivery of projects. The supervisor will lead and manage a team, enforce safety protocols, monitor workflow, and implement quality control standards while effectively communicating with team members and other departments to maintain an efficient production process.


Qualifications

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Provides production employees with person protective equipment and tools.
  • Maintains production schedule and responds to production and administration issues.
  • Maintains records in Made2Manage.
  • Supervises employees to ensure safety and productivity, ensures safety procedures are followed by production employees, provides equipment maintenance, answer questions and solve problems.
  • Performs QC functions by inspecting manufactured items.
  • Comply with prescribed safety procedures or federal and ensure subordinates do the same.
  • Additional hazardous waste activities may include, with further training, operating the solvent
  • Attends training such as safety meetings and applicable seminars/training.
  • Conducts interviews, orientation, and employee training.
  • May assist in loading/unloading of trucks and operates a forklift.
  • Communicates with all necessary departments and the Supervisor when necessary.
  • Completes all required paperwork, including the review/changes of daily labor reports.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Secures tools, materials, and equipment at end of day.
  • Performs additional duties as needed.

  • High school diploma or equivalent and technical college or college degree preferred.
  • Welding and forklift experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices, procedure manuals, job instructions ,and basic problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, and the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and multitask effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate a computer and computer software, including Microsoft Office products and Made2Manage.
  • Ability to use departmental equipment.
  •  Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Manufacturing and Supervisory experience strongly preferred.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds for me,n 30 pounds for women. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • The work environment is usually an indoor setting with infrequent exposure to outside elements. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is frequently high. This position requires infrequent travel, which may involve exposure to extreme weather elements.
  • Must abide by PPE requirements.
