Job Overview:
We are seeking a Legal Billing/Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our business office. This role provides accounting and administrative support through billing, accounts receivable, and related office functions that help ensure the department operates efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Billing
- Process electronic and system-generated foreign and domestic billing for firm clients
- Prepare and edit client pre-bills and import times as needed
- Prepare monthly client invoice summaries
- Prepare and distribute monthly employee account statements
- Enter miscellaneous disbursements
Accounts Receivable
- Prepare and send client statements by email or mail monthly and upon request
- Prepare and distribute accounts receivable reports to attorneys monthly and upon request
- Review checks, wires, and ACH payments to ensure proper processing.
- Update daily payments on accounts receivable reports and follow up on past-due accounts
- Provide information to clients and attorneys as requested
- Process credit card payments
Additional Support
- Assist support staff with time and billing inquiries
- Enter new file memos as requested
- Provide general backup support to the Business Office
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred but not required
- Two or more years of accounting experience; law firm experience helpful
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Recent accounts receivable experience, including account reconciliation and analysis
- Professional, detail-oriented, and service focused approach
- Legal billing experience is a plus
- Collaborative team player with a willingness to assist where needed and support timely completion of urgent matters
- Adaptable and proactive in responding to changing priorities, urgent requests, and daily office needs
