This position is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on Stadler GTW 2/6 Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) passenger rail vehicle mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

This position is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on Stadler GTW 2/6 Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) passenger rail vehicle mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Duties And Responsibilities
- This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
- Successfully complete any and all vendor supplied training courses related to any DMU vehicle system and/or subsystem.
- Assist with DMU testing and acceptance program.
- Assist vendors in repairing the DMU during warranty period.
- Assist in setting up the DMU Maintenance Shop.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and test DMU systems and equipment.
- Perform mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic diagnosis.
- Document warranty data according to client policies and procedures.
- Comply with all safety, operating and maintenance procedures.
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment to complete repairs in a timely manner.
- Provide passenger service support to minimize service delays.
- Perform re-railing operations as required.
- Work outdoors in inclement weather as needed.
- Maintain small tool equipment.
- Work with minimal direct supervision.
- Utilize the client supplied MMIS system as required.
- Required to work at any time of the day or night as assigned.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Diesel and/or Locomotive Mechanical background a plus.
- Associate’s degree in electrical/electronic or mechanical technology or related experience.
- Two - five years verifiable mechanical and/or electrical work experience.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Understanding chain of custody concepts with regards to parts issuance and distribution.
- Prior rail maintenance experience highly desirable.
- Able to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Able to use various software programs as required.
- Work in close proximity to moving vehicles.
- Satisfactory employment record.
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
- Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
- This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

- Regularly grasp or squeeze with forces up to 40 pounds.
- Regularly ascend and descend a 10 step ladder with up to 25 pounds. Frequently climb on/off equipment.
- Work in a confined access/space environment with a height of 12 inches and a width of 24 inches.
- Regularly kneel, bend, squat while transferring up to 25 pounds of weight.
- Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1 mile.
- Regularly lay on back for extended periods of time.
- Regularly reach overhead while holding tools.
- Must be able to be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands while being exposed to moderately loud noises on a daily basis.
- Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture and wind.
- Must be able to work in a safety sensitive work environment.
- Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
- Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
