Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Community Relations Specialist based in Akron, OH. Some remote work is allowed. The Community Relations Specialist will be responsible for fostering relationships with community organizations, planning and coordinating outreach initiatives, and increasing awareness of the university’s mission and offerings. Additional responsibilities include developing and managing events, ensuring positive engagement with stakeholders, and effectively communicating the university’s values and opportunities within the broader community.
Qualifications
- Proven skills in Community Relations, Community Engagement, and Community Outreach
- Strong Communication abilities, including written and verbal communication
- Experience in Event Planning, including coordinating logistics and driving engagement
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field preferred
- Experience in higher education or nonprofit organizations is a plus
- Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for outreach efforts
