JOB TITLE:  CHILD NUTRITION ASSISTANT I

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

To prepare and serve the school population attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness under direct supervision.

REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Manager and the school Principal

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Reads recipes and directions for quantity and follows instructions.

1. Uses standardized recipes and makes substitutions with the approval of the manager.

1. Calculates amount of ingredients for number of portions to be served.

1. Prepares and serves meals.

1. Gathers items as directed by recipe for use.

1. Stores food and equipment prepared and used by self and others.

1. Measures, mixes, and stirs ingredients.

1. Slices and chops food as needed.

1. Computes time to be used in preparing and finishing products on time.

1. Proportions and serves food in prescribed serving size.

1. Arranges foods and supplies to retain sanitation and quality.

1. Sanitizes service wear.

1. Cleans equipment, work area, and dining room after use.

1. Notifies manager of equipment repairs needed.

1. Records material and supplies needed.

1. Inspects kitchen activities to make sure safety and sanitation procedures are followed.

1. Receives training and in-service pertinent to the job function.

1. Performs other functions as assigned by supervisor(s).
