Hershorin Schiff Community Day School (CDS) — Sarasota, FL
Schedule: As needed for field trips and school outings
Compensation: $136 stipend per day
Position Summary
CDS is seeking a dependable substitute van driver to transport students and staff in a school 15-passenger van for field trips and other school outings. This is an excellent opportunity for a retired van driver or an experienced driver who enjoys working with children and wants an occasional, flexible role.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport students and staff to and from approved destinations.
- Follow traffic laws, school transportation procedures, and scheduled routes.
- Complete vehicle safety checks before and after each trip and report any concerns.
- Ensure all passengers are seated and wearing seat belts before driving.
- Check the van after each trip to ensure all passengers have exited and no belongings remain.
- Promptly communicate any delays or incidents.
Qualifications
- Hold a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement suitable for driving a bus.
- Have a clean driving record.
- Pass the required background check.
- Successfully complete the driver training class provided by the school.
- Be dependable, punctual, and comfortable working around children.
- Have experience safely operating a passenger van.
- Be available for occasional field trips and school outings; hours and trip lengths may vary.
Pay: $136.00 per day
