Position Title: Residential Support Specialist
Reports To: Assistant Program Director
Schedule: Every Weekend 4pm-12pm
Position Summary:
The Residential Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting adult women who are healing from trauma, sex trafficking/sexual exploitation, and working through substance use recovery. This position ensures a safe, supportive, and structured environment that promotes empowerment, independence, and sustained recovery. The Residential Support Specialist provides compassionate, trauma-informed care and are responsible for day-to-day supervision of residents, emotional support, and engagement in program activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Support and Supervision
- Provide consistent, respectful, and supportive interactions with residents.
- Monitor and maintain a therapeutic, recovery-focused environment.
- Assist residents with their day-to-day needs.
Program Facilitation and Engagement
- Encourage participation in treatment-related groups, recovery activities, and community outings.
- Support residents in implementing coping strategies and self-care routines.
- Provide transportation to appointments, meetings, or errands as needed.
Crisis Intervention and Safety
- Use de-escalation skills and trauma-informed practices to manage conflict or crisis.
- Ensure physical safety and emotional well-being of all residents.
- Monitor signs of relapse, distress, or other concerns and report promptly.
Medication Administration
- Observe residents’ self-administration of medication according to protocol.
- Document medication administration according to protocol and complete relevant documentation for any medication errors.
Communication and Documentation
- Maintain accurate shift notes and incident reports.
- Collaborate with program staff and participate in staff meetings.
- Ensure smooth transition and communication between shifts.
- Direct residents in following the grievance procedure for any concerns that they may have.
Household Responsibilities
- Support residents in maintaining cleanliness and order in the residence.
- Assist with meal preparation, laundry, inventory of supplies, and light housekeeping tasks.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist or Certified Recovery Specialist preferred.
- Experience working within trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and recovery environments.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Strong communication, crisis management, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Comfortable working in a faith-based environment rooted in Christianity.
- Cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs of marginalized populations.
Work Environment
The environment is supportive, team-based, and mission-driven with a strong emphasis on self-care. This is a patient-facing role within a residential treatment environment and may involve exposure to emotionally intense situations.
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
