Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Service Engineer role located in the Greater Chicago Area. The Service Engineer will install, commission, and maintain ultrasonic welding and sealing equipment at customer facilities, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and control system issues, performing preventive maintenance, and conducting equipment calibrations. The role involves providing technical support and training to customers and internal teams, documenting service activities, and contributing feedback for product and process improvements. The Service Engineer will travel within the region as needed to support customers across the plastics and metals division.
Qualifications
- Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic systems, preferably with experience in industrial machinery or automation.
- Hands-on skills in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of equipment, including reading technical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Experience with PLCs, sensors, and control systems, as well as basic knowledge of industrial safety standards and best practices.
- Customer-facing skills, including clear communication, training abilities, and a service-oriented mindset when working on-site.
- Ability to manage time effectively, work independently in the field, and document service work accurately using digital tools.
- Relevant technical degree or certification (e.g., in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or similar) is preferred.
- Prior experience in ultrasonic technology, welding, packaging machinery, or related manufacturing environments is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel within the designated region and occasionally beyond, with a valid driver’s license.
