Your Opportunity
Herrera is looking for a Civil-Environmental Engineer with an interest in working on complex projects with a goal of improving the environment and solving problems for our industrial clients. You will work as part of a collaborative team resolving issues at industrial sites and identifying solutions for mine, solid waste, and contaminated brownfield remediation sites. This position will work on a range of engineering and environmental projects for public and private clients across Washington, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, and Alaska.
You will be responsible for:
- Assisting with design of solid waste infrastructure facilities (landfills, recycling, and transfer stations) and brownfield reclamation sites.
- Preparing written reports and design documents, engineering design calculations, plans and specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Assisting with engineering services during construction.
- Interacting with clients, contractors, and other consultants.
- Providing project consulting support working on multi-disciplinary, complex project teams.
- Performing field work related to environmental monitoring and conducting research and data collection.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Experience, & Licensure/Certifications
- 0 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an accredited university
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Collaborator and team builder with capacity to work with staff from diverse technical disciplines
- Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to carry out detailed instructions while also being able to think creatively
- Dedication to health and safety practices
- Self-starter with a desire to learn new skills
- Managing collected data using spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) or a database (Microsoft Access)
- Flexibility to work on a variety of project types and field conditions
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 years of relevant experience
- Solid waste-related experience (landfill and/or transfer station design, solid waste planning)
- Field experience conducting environmental investigations (soil, surface water, groundwater, and stormwater sampling) and/or supporting construction operations (construction oversight and/or management, environmental inspections)
- Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) training
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Bluebeam
- Engineer in Training (EIT) credentials

- This position is salaried and exempt from overtime; the annual salary range is $77,300 - $97,900
- Salary is determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to years of experience, type/relevance of experience, skillset, geographic location, and fit for the role.
