Responsibilities
- Install HVAC systems including heating units, air conditioning units, ventilation equipment, and refrigeration systems according to schematics and design specifications
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment using electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters and specialized testing devices
- Perform routine maintenance on mechanical systems to ensure efficiency and longevity
- Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design plans for accurate installation and repairs
- Conduct system inspections to identify issues related to electrical systems, plumbing connections, or mechanical components
- Utilize hand tools, welding equipment, and building automation systems to complete installations and repairs effectively
- Provide exceptional customer service by explaining system functions and maintenance needs clearly to clients
Qualifications
- Proven construction experience with a strong mechanical background in HVAC or related fields
- Service technician experience with HVAC system repair, maintenance, or installation
- Knowledge of schematics, HVAC design principles, electrical diagnostics, refrigeration processes, and plumbing systems
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and electrical systems relevant to HVAC/R equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues using specialized tools such as ohmmeters and refrigerant gauges
- Mechanical knowledge complemented by experience with equipment repair, welding, boiler operation, or appliance repair is highly desirable
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) is a plus
- EPA certification for handling refrigerants is required or obtainable upon hire
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
