Overview
We are seeking a business-minded and highly adaptable Head of Legal to lead and develop the HeroDevs’ legal function. In reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will oversee all legal, contracting, and compliance matters across HeroDevs—including revenue-generating contracts, procurement/vendor agreements, corporate governance, product/legal compliance, risk management, and employment law oversight.
Job Responsibilities
- Own and manage all customer-facing revenue agreements including Subscription Agreement(s), Order Forms, DPAs, Partnership Agreements…etc.
- Develop scalable contract templates, negotiation frameworks, and playbooks
- Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Customer Success to support deal structuring
- Oversee vendor, procurement, and internal operations contracts
- Assist in optimizing and managing the HeroDev’ compliance posture
- Evaluate legal risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering on product compliance and IP strategy
- Manage outside counsel and legal budgets
- Establish KPIs, reporting, and metrics to track progress and alignment with HeroDevs goals
- Implement legal operations foundations, including CLM systems and workflow optimization.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership
- 7 years of legal experience, ideally with SaaS and/or enterprise software
- Experience managing outside counsel and budgets
- Strong commercial contracting experience
- Strong understanding of data privacy and security frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to build scalable processes and operate autonomously.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams in a high-growth environment
- Strong business-first mentality and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as first (or early) in-house attorney / Head of Legal
- Experience with open-source licensing or software lifecycle compliance
