About this Position:
We are partnering with a well-established New Jersey-based custom automation manufacturer seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to support the design and development of custom automated machinery and electrical control systems.
This role offers hands-on involvement across machine build projects, working closely with engineering, production, and project teams to deliver highly tailored automation solutions. The position provides strong exposure to electrical controls design, system integration, panel layouts, machine wiring, and industrial automation technologies within a collaborative engineering environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop electrical control schematics and drawings using AutoCAD and E-Plan
- Create bills of materials for electrical components and control systems
- Support electrical panel layout, machine wiring, and controls integration activities
- Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and production teams throughout machine build projects
- Program and support HMIs, PLCs, servo motors, vision systems, and robotic systems as required
- Create and maintain final electrical controls documentation packages for completed machinery
- Support testing, debugging, and commissioning of custom automated equipment
- Maintain awareness of new technologies and advancements within industrial automation and controls engineering
Experience Required:
- Technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience in controls engineering, automation, or electrical systems design
- Experience with industrial electrical controls design and automation systems
- Experience using AutoCAD drafting software and E-Plan electrical CAD software
- Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, and industrial communication networks
- Experience with Allen Bradley RSLogix Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View preferred
- Beckhoff controls experience is a plus
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities within manufacturing or automation environments
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented engineering environment
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record required
Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
