What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Aide position at Hermitage School District?
Overview
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Aides to support students in the emotional support classroom (K-7), learning support classrooms (9-12) and the elementary life skills classroom. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to create an inclusive and supportive environment that fosters the academic and social development of students with disabilities. This role is essential in helping students achieve their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and promoting their overall growth.
Duties
- Ability to provide support as deemed necessary in relation to all school functions and activities. Specifically in regards to remedial curriculum and academic and behavioral interventions.
- Must be able to collaborate with general education and special education teachers to provide appropriate instructional and behavioral accommodations.
- Ability to manage personal care.
- May require strenuous lifting/transfer techniques and possible safety mechanics.
- Ability to learn and implement behavioral management techniques.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or other special needs.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and staff.
- We will train those who are interested.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $16.59 per hour
Expected hours: 32.5 per week
