Overview
We are seeking an experienced 1040 Tax Preparer to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented tax professional who is comfortable working independently, communicating directly with clients, and staying current with evolving tax regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual federal and state tax returns (Form 1040 and 1040NR) with precision and attention to detail using advanced tax preparation software.
- Gather, analyze, and organize tax documents such as W-2s, 1099s, Schedule C, Schedule E, and other relevant forms to ensure complete filings.
- Prepare and file Gift Tax returns
- Prepare and file FBAR (Foreign Bank Account Report) filings
- Stay current on tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements to provide accurate advice and ensure all filings meet legal standards.
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information, clarify questions, and explain complex tax concepts in understandable terms.
- Assist clients with tax planning strategies and identify potential deductions or credits that maximize their benefits.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client information while managing multiple filings efficiently.
- Utilize DRAKE Software and QuickBooks Online for return preparation and bookkeeping review.
- Maintain organized records using Google Sheets and Microsoft Office
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of individual tax return preparation (Form 1040) and related schedules.
- Proficiency with DRAKE software; experience with accounting software like QuickBooks.
- Strong understanding of tax law, compliance standards, and partnership or corporate tax expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data accurately using math skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence.
- Familiarity with bookkeeping practices, financial concepts, and technical accounting principles.
Requirements
- 4 years of tax preparation experience (required)
- Proficiency with DRAKE Software
- Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO)
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Familiarity with Google Sheets
- Experience preparing 1040, 1040NR, Gift Tax, and FBAR filings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients
- Ability to learn new software and processes quickly
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
