Leasing Consultant - Property Management

Help People Find a Place to Call Home

MSP Real Estate is seeking an outgoing, organized, and customer-focused Leasing Consultant to join our property management team.

As a Leasing Consultant, you’ll often be the first impression prospective residents have of our community. You’ll guide applicants through the leasing process, showcase available apartments, assist with required paperwork, and help create a positive experience from the first inquiry through move-in.

If you enjoy working with people, building relationships, staying organized, and being part of a fast-paced property management team, we’d love to meet you!

What You’ll Do

As a Leasing Consultant, you will:

  • Serve as a welcoming and professional point of contact for prospective and current tenants.
  • Respond promptly to leasing inquiries by phone, email, online platforms, and in person.
  • Conduct property and apartment tours while highlighting community features and available housing options.
  • Follow up with prospective tenants and help convert inquiries and tours into completed applications and leases.
  • Assist applicants throughout the application, qualification, and leasing process.
  • Prepare and process applications, leases, renewals, and other required documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with tax-credit applications, certifications, and recertifications as assigned, ensuring required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain organized and accurate applicant and tenant files in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.
  • Coordinate with property management and maintenance teams to help ensure vacant apartments are ready for prospective tenants and scheduled move-ins.
  • Assist with move-in and move-out processes and related documentation.
  • Monitor apartment availability, leasing activity, and occupancy information.
  • Assist with resident retention efforts, lease renewals, and ongoing tenant communication.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and respond professionally to questions, concerns, and requests.
  • Build positive relationships with prospective tenants, current tenants, vendors, and team members.
  • Assist with property marketing and outreach efforts designed to generate qualified leads and maintain strong occupancy.
  • Maintain knowledge of available apartments, rental rates, property amenities, leasing requirements, and current promotions.
  • Support the Property Manager with administrative and operational responsibilities as needed.

What We’re Looking For

Our ideal Leasing Consultant is enthusiastic, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with a wide variety of people.

Qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in property management, sales, marketing, or a related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in leasing, property management, sales, hospitality, or customer service preferred.
  • Tax-credit or affordable housing experience is a plus.
  • Strong customer-service and relationship-building skills.
  • Professional, friendly, and confident communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly when completing applications, leases, and compliance documentation.
  • Ability to effectively follow up with prospective tenants and support property occupancy goals.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using computers, email, Microsoft Office, and property management or leasing software.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative property management team.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel as required.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements

The Leasing Consultant must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Sitting, standing, walking, and occasionally kneeling throughout the workday.
  • Using computers, monitors, electronic records, and written documentation throughout the day.
  • Working a schedule that supports the operational needs of the property.
  • Traveling to other assigned properties or company locations as needed.
